I lived most of my life in the Midwest, just outside of Chicago. After retirement, I fulfilled my lifelong dream of living in Florida. I am a self-taught artist exploring a diverse range of subject matter and mediums. Presently, my medium of choice is watercolor batik, which is similar in process to traditional batik on fabrics. This process uses rice and mulberry papers with soy wax resist over layers of watercolor pigments which when completed results is vibrant color and texture, which is usually not achieved in watercolor art.
My art reflects Florida's beautiful beaches, tropical landscapes, and tropical flowers along with its wonderful wildlife. There is a lush, tropical vibe to Florida that I try to convey into my work by incorporating different mediums and vibrant colors to draw the viewer deeper into my art to make you feel something as well as bring enjoyment. Art is the visual soul of the artist who wishes to share a feeling, place or experience for which words cannot fully convey an emotion.
